Our client, a natural product for daily wellness company is seeking a Plant Controller for their Los Angeles based operation.  The Plant Controller establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing staff.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the general accounting department staff
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information, including the completion of all balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Complete monthly and quarterly flux analytics
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures (i.e., robotic process automation) and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Manage the fixed asset system to ensure additions, disposals, impairments are accurately recorded and depreciated
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and procedures
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Review audit requests and ensure accurate, timely and complete responses to the auditors
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and system functions to ensure enforcement of proper accounting methods and policies
  • Supervise general accounting staff to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
  • Special projects and workflow process improvements
  • Work with each direct reports to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
 
Education & Required Skills:
  • 5 – 7 years of general accounting experience with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • CPA or CMA is preferred
  • NetSuite experience preferred
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient with spreadsheets, documents, presentations
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred
 
Compensation: $130,000
