How do you measure and track a client’s progress over time?

I repeat these assessments periodically, usually every 4-6 weeks, to objectively measure changes. Then I track their consistency and performance in workouts. I want to understand and track how they’re progressing.

“I had a client who wanted to run a marathon but was starting from a sedentary lifestyle. We broke the goal into smaller, achievable milestones. We started with short runs, gradually increasing the distance.  

I kept her motivated by celebrating each milestone and reminding her of how far she had come. I also varied her workouts to keep things interesting. Then I incorporated cross-training to prevent burnout. She successfully completed her marathon after months of dedicated training.”

Describe a situation where a client was unhappy with their progress. How did you handle it?

“I once had a client who felt frustrated because she wasn’t seeing rapid weight loss despite consistent effort. I sat down with her to review the progress she had made in other areas. We went over her strength gains, increased energy, and improved endurance.  

Then we reassessed her nutrition and sleep habits. We identified a few tweaks that could further support her goals. By focusing on the positive changes she had already achieved and refining our approach, she regained confidence. Eventually, she saw the results she wanted.
